Benjamin Cousins Trio
Benjamin Cousins is a New Orleans clarinetist and composer whose playing sits at the intersection of the city's deep jazz tradition and a thoroughly modern compositional sensibility. He grew up in New Orleans, studied under Gregory Agid at NOCCA, earned his undergraduate degree at Berklee College of Music, and his master's at Temple University, and performed with NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison Jr.'s Next Generation groups at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. His band, the Sonic Architects, released their debut album What We Dream It to Be in January 2026, which was awarded a Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation. Tonight they perform in a trio configuration, putting Cousins' warm, woody tone and improvisational voice front and center.
