NOLA x NOLA & Good Measure Presents : The Big Playback ft. Soul Brass Band and Raj Smoove

Dubbed "The Greatest DJ in the World" by Lil Wayne, Raj Smoove is one of the most celebrated DJs to emerge from the Crescent City. He is the game-day DJ for the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans, and his credits include the main stage at Essence Festival, Jazz Fest, NBA All-Star Weekend, Rihanna's ANTI-Tour wrap party, and collaborations with Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, PJ Morton, and Stevie Wonder.

Soul Brass Band is a contemporary New Orleans brass band led by Derrick "Smoker" Freeman. Drawing from the deep roots of second line culture, the band brings classic brass band instrumentation to a repertoire of funk, hip-hop, and soul, giving familiar songs an unmistakably New Orleans feel.

The Big Playback is a one-of-a-kind live experience born from a happy accident. When Soul Brass Band and DJ Raj Smoove were forced to share a stage at a rain-soaked wedding, the chemistry was immediately apparent. Raj Smoove spins and mixes classic OutKast and A Tribe Called Quest records in real time while Soul Brass Band performs live, and Derrick "Smoker" Freeman MCs over the top. Raj loops what the band is playing and weaves it back into the mix: live sampling, live brass, and thirty years of hip-hop's greatest records converging in real time.
