Shawan Rice is a New Orleans guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter whose rootsy neo-soul has taken her from busking the streets of the city to the Congo Square stage at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Jazz Ascona Festival in Switzerland. Her 2023 album Fever Dreams showcases the funky guitar work and soulful vocals that have made her one of the city's most compelling live performers.

Anjelika "Jelly" Joseph is a New Orleans vocalist and songwriter raised on church music and inspired by legends including Irma Thomas. She built her local reputation playing Bourbon Street clubs and appearing on American Idol before partnering with Tarriona "Tank" Ball in the Grammy-nominated Tank and the Bangas. She went on to become the lead vocalist of Galactic, one of New Orleans' most celebrated funk and jazz ensembles. Her breakout collaborative hit "Fya" with bounce artist HaSizzle brought her widespread attention, and in April 2026 she released her solo single "Thru The Roof" ahead of a debut headlining set at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Her solo work spans funk, soul, R&B, bounce, and hip-hop, delivered with a stage presence that is charismatic, generous, and deeply rooted in the city she calls home.

Led by saxophonist, vocalist, and songwriter James Martin, the James Martin Band delivers a modern New Orleans sound rooted in funk, soul, and contemporary jazz. Blending strong melodic writing with groove-driven arrangements, the band reflects Martin's range as both a performer and composer.

A graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and a longtime collaborator within the city's music community, Martin was an early member of Trombone Shorty's Orleans Avenue alongside Trombone Shorty and Jon Batiste, and has appeared on HBO's Treme. His career has since taken him to stages around the world, with performances at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival and Copenhagen Jazz Festival, as well as appearances across Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. His catalog of original music ranges from the Billboard-charting Keep Movin' to the more recent From Here, a record that moves fluidly between New Orleans jazz, contemporary funk, and R&B.

95MP is a New Orleans live drum and bass duo, drummer Peter Varnado and bassist Miles Hancock, whose recent Marigny Tapes sessions brought the project widespread attention. Varnado is a NOCCA and University of New Orleans graduate, Director of Applied Music at Tulane, and one of the most sought-after drummers in the city, with credits including Nicholas Payton, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah, Ellis Marsalis, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Hancock is a bassist, composer, and producer whose work spans contemporary jazz, funk, and electronic music, and who leads the avant-garde jazz and funk group Loose Willis. Together they blend traditional New Orleans roots with trip-hop, rumba clave, and drum and bass influences. 95MP released their debut EP Excursion in September 2025.

Led by Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots deliver a powerful blend of zydeco, blues, gospel, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms rooted in Louisiana tradition. Anchored by Barnes' commanding vocals and multi-instrumental versatility, the band's sound reflects a lifetime of musical and cultural exchange across what he describes as a true "musical gumbo."

A longtime fixture of the New Orleans cultural landscape, Barnes is a National Park Service ranger and cultural educator whose performances draw on deep knowledge of Afro-Louisiana history and tradition. A master of accordion and harmonica, he studied with zydeco pioneers including John Delafose, grounding his sound in the living lineage of Louisiana roots music. His career spans decades of appearances at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, international touring across more than 50 countries, and a run as a member of the Paul Simon band on the 58-city arena tour Paul Simon and Sting: On Stage Together.

Brasinola plays the music of Brazil's Tropicalia movement with a New Orleans rhythm underneath. The band draws on the late 1960s and 1970s heyday of that Brazilian sound, its blend of samba, funk, folk, and psychedelia, while grounding everything in the feel of the city where they perform. As bassist and co-founder Ron Johnson has put it, "the NOLA in our name is the foot of the New Orleans drummer." A longtime presence on the city's club circuit, the band first made their name at the Maple Leaf Bar and have been a Frenchmen Street fixture since.

Jake Carter is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Red Hook, New York, who studied at Berklee College of Music before spending three years producing in Atlanta and ultimately planting roots in Jackson, Mississippi. His music blends traditional blues guitar and harmonica with hip-hop, trap, and bounce beats, placing him at the leading edge of the Southern Soul and Chitin scene. He recently released Doing Me, an EP anchored by the breakout track "Can't Get Right," and performs everywhere from Southern juke joints and trail rides to major blues festivals and national arenas.

Victor Campbell is a pianist from Camaguey, Cuba, whose playing moves fluently between Cuban jazz, timba, classical technique, and the New Orleans musical vocabulary he has spent years absorbing since moving to the city in 2019. He trained at Cuba's National School of the Arts and first came to New Orleans in 2012 through the Louis Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp, a visit that, in his own words, changed his life.

The New Orleans Jazz Museum describes him as moving effortlessly between a blues solo, a Cuban timba montuno, and a classical selection within the same set. Chucho Valdes, the legendary Cuban pianist, predicted in 2019 that Campbell would revolutionize Cuban jazz piano. He has since performed with Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, contributed to the soundtrack of the film Sinners, which went on to Oscar recognition, and become one of the most talked-about young musicians in the city.

Vibe with Ayanna & Zahria brings together sound curator and DJ Ayanna Cooper Vasquez and saxophonist and bandleader Zahria Sims for a live collaboration that sits at the intersection of house music and jazz. Ayanna is a New Orleans and Milwaukee-based DJ whose sets draw from house, disco, Afro-Latin rhythms, and globally inspired sounds, built around deep grooves and soulful, unhurried programming. Zahria Sims is a Baton Rouge native now rooted in New Orleans and founder of the Zahria Sims Collective, whose layered saxophone melodies and looped textures bring a live jazz voice to Ayanna's DJ sets. A Loyola University jazz graduate, Sims' credits include opening slots for Kenny Garrett and Arturo Sandoval, a recording with Nicholas Payton, and a 2025 debut EP. The two have developed their collaborative format through regular performances at 3oneone6, a creative collective and art space on St. Claude Avenue.

Gov't Majik is a New Orleans collective led by bassist and co-founder Bru Bruser and fronted by vocalist Ten Spencer. Self-described as "The Dirty South Afro-Beat Arkestra," the band blends the music of Fela Kuti and other Afrobeat and Afrofunk pioneers with the funk, jazz, rap, and rock and roll of New Orleans, landing somewhere between Fela, OutKast, and Kool & the Gang. Founded in 2005, the band made their Jazz Fest debut in 2007 and returned to the festival stage in 2026. Their 2023 EP The Bass Age features Parliament-Funkadelic saxophonist Greg Thomas. Their new album, This Magic Feeling, is due out in February 2027
