    Smoker’s World

    July 25 @ 9:00 pm - July 26 @ 12:00 am
Good Measure 600 Carondelet St, New Orleans, LA, United States

Smoker's World is the most personal and experimental project of Derrick "Smoker" Freeman, the New Orleans drummer, songwriter, and DJ who also leads the Soul Brass Band. Where that group operates within the brass band tradition, Smoker's World is Freeman's creative laboratory: hip-hop grooves, funk, pop, and the deep New Orleans jazz foundation, filtered through social commentary, cheeky lyricism, and the energy of a full horn line that can shift gears without warning. Freeman describes it as the anchor of all his musical pursuits, built around a rotating cast of the city's most versatile jazz musicians. Their 2022 album WhiteSplain, which transforms pandemic-era political chaos into danceable tracks, earned wide attention for its balance of consciousness and fun.

    Benjamin Cousins Trio

    July 30 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Good Measure 600 Carondelet St, New Orleans, LA, United States

Benjamin Cousins is a New Orleans clarinetist and composer whose playing sits at the intersection of the city's deep jazz tradition and a thoroughly modern compositional sensibility. He grew up in New Orleans, studied under Gregory Agid at NOCCA, earned his undergraduate degree at Berklee College of Music, and his master's at Temple University, and performed with NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison Jr.'s Next Generation groups at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. His band, the Sonic Architects, released their debut album What We Dream It to Be in January 2026, which was awarded a Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation. Tonight they perform in a trio configuration, putting Cousins' warm, woody tone and improvisational voice front and center.

Mahmoud Chouki ft. Yusa with Martin Masakowski, Jafet Perez and special guest Brad Walker

    July 31 @ 9:00 pm - August 1 @ 12:00 am
Good Measure 600 Carondelet St, New Orleans, LA, United States

Featuring Yusa with Martin Masakowski, Jafet Perez and special guest Brad Walker

Mahmoud Chouki is a Moroccan-born master guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who has made New Orleans his home and his sounding board. His compositions draw on an unusually wide range of traditions, Andalusian and North African music, Levantine strings, Latin American rhythms, European classical training, and New Orleans jazz, woven together into something that feels like a genuine musical dialogue rather than a fusion exercise.

Chouki serves as music curator for the New Orleans Museum of Art, where his site-specific performance series Safar explored how music can speak across cultural divides. He composed the score for Ma Belle, Ma Beauty, which won at the Sundance Film Festival, and was named Best Emerging Artist by OffBeat Magazine. As artistic director of Rencontre Orient-Occident in Switzerland, he has built a career around bringing international musicians into conversation, with New Orleans, and with each other.

Ado Soul & the Tribe are a New Orleans soul band whose sound has earned them the tag "the South's Most Soulful Sound" -- a blend of traditional New Orleans rhythm, funk, R&B, and Afrofuturist soul anchored by roaring brass and deep pocket grooves. The group is fronted by Ado Soul, whose gravelly vocal growl traces back to a childhood spent performing gospel alongside his father, a pastor and singer, across Louisiana. He honed his craft at Xavier University of Louisiana and has built a reputation as a performer who leaves nothing on the table.
